Georgina Stanley

Not only has she painted one of our favourite cocktails, the picante, but Georgina displays such incredible skill in painting intricate objects, texture and reflected light in her mesmerizing still lifes that we had to bring her onboard.

Having spent three years in Florence studying at the Florence Academy of Art, Georgina graduated in 2015 with their prestigious Portraiture Prize. She founded and organised the first Represent exhibition in Notting Hill in 2014 and has now exhibited in a number of shows. She works from her studio in Brixton, South London, listening to a mixture of podcasts, music or a familiar series playing in the background.

3 Minutes with Georgina…

Where do you draw inspiration from? People, places or things?
I find inspiration from all over the place. I live in a really vibrant part of London, and every morning I walk through a big market to get to the studio. Most of the stall owners now know me and let me pick my fruit and vegetables carefully. They used to think I was a very picky eater before I explained that I painted the produce!

What's your favourite piece of art? Why?
While I was living in Florence I would often sit in the Loggia and look at Giambolognas Sabine Women, the tiny details of dimpled skin and the mixture of grace and ferocity in such a huge work is pretty mind-blowing.

Your last meal on earth would be?
It would be a toss-up. My husband and I go to Venice a few times a year and lots of my favourite meals are there, like the Alla Vedovas meatballs... but it's hard to beat a chicken kiev.
