Sara Dodd
Sara’s ceramics beautifully balance fragility with strength and we have been totally captivated by this contrast since we first discovered her works. Using slip, Sarah paints to create wafer thin pieces of ceramic which she then repeats and repeats to build up her intricate forms. The firing in the kiln then causes the porcelain to move and shift causing the pieces to capture a delicate moment in time.
Sara’s work has been shown internationally including at the New York Ceramics and Glass Fair and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. She frequently exhibits in London and has shown at Collect, held at the Saatchi Gallery in 2017, 2018 and 2019, as well as the London Art Fair.

Where is the strangest place you've ever created art?
When I went to art school in Sydney my studio was in a beautiful sandstone building out of town. Before, it had been a psychiatric hospital and my studio was the old medical wing. One of the former patients would visit every day and re-enact his old routine.
If you showed your art to a stranger, how would you want it to make them feel?
I’d want them to feel curiosity, delight and tranquil.
Favourite place to travel to and why?
Pembrokeshire. Growing up in Wales we spent a lot of summer holidays on the beaches of west Wales. I take inspiration from the beautiful coast lines and feel that the fresh air there really nourishes my soul!
